I started sewing at age 10 (I kid you not) on my mother’s Singer sewing machine. It started with snooping in her closet and the large basket of fabrics. I was hooked immediately, even after I put a needle through my finger.
Every girl in a 2-block area wore a reversible triangle scarf. I still remember the fabric was a blue background with brown umbrellas and reverse fabric brown corduroy.
Through the years, I made prom dresses and homecoming (red velvet) and tons of school clothes. Sewing allowed me to have a whole different wardrobe and I got a chance to be my creative self.
After high school, my college choices were fashion design or interior design. I went the safe route with interiors and enjoyed a career as an interior designer for many years. I always loved fabrics – the rich feel of wool and linen – and the endless creations I could make. My favorite fabric was always linen and, living in the cold Midwest, wool. I lived in linen and still do.
And so here I’ve wanted to work from home creating useful, classic items with all my favorite things around me. There has been trial and error, (I actually threw my first purses away!) but every day has been a learning experience.
So thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy my products and ideas 🙂
